Philosophy of Care

"I believe the best cancer care begins with listening to each patient and understanding what matters most to her. A diagnosis of gynecologic cancer can be overwhelming, and I strive to make sure my patients feel informed, supported, and actively involved in decisions about their care. I value shared decision-making and take the time to explain treatment options clearly, including the benefits, risks, and alternatives of each approach. 

As a gynecologic oncologist, I am fortunate to care for patients throughout their cancer journey, from diagnosis and surgery through systemic treatment and survivorship. My goal is to combine evidence-based, innovative cancer care with compassion and a treatment plan tailored to each patient's individual goals and priorities."

A Minnesota native, Dr. Gonzalez grew up in Andover and is thrilled to return home to care for patients in the community that shaped her. She is especially proud of her Cuban heritage and the legacy of medicine in her family. After immigrating to Minnesota from Cuba in their 50s, her grandparents repeated their medical training in a new country, including at the same hospital where Dr. Gonzalez would later train generations later. Her mother continued that tradition, caring for families in the community for more than 40 years as a family medicine physician. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Gonzalez and her husband stay busy chasing after their two young boys. She enjoys running, traveling, spending time outdoors, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
