Minnesota Oncology Partners with Gabbi to Help Women Better Understand Their Breast Cancer Risk in Minutes

New partnership aims to support earlier detection, personalized risk assessment and timely follow-up care.

St. Paul, Minn. —October 1, 2026 — Minnesota Oncology is partnering with Gabbi, a virtual breast clinic, to help more women understand their personal risk of breast cancer and receive guidance based on their individual needs.

The partnership reflects Minnesota Oncology’s ongoing commitment to advancing early detection and helping patients access the right care at the right time. Breast cancer screening can help find cancer early, when it is easier to treat, and survival is highest when breast cancer is diagnosed at an early, localized stage. With one in eight women expected to develop breast cancer and the disease increasingly affecting younger women, early detection is vital. The American College of Radiology now calls for all women to have risk assessment by age 25 to determine if earlier screening and what type of screening is needed.

“Finding breast cancer early can make a meaningful difference in a patient’s treatment options and outcomes,” said Dr. Lisa Hamilton, Director, Division of Breast Surgery at Minnesota Oncology. “By partnering with Gabbi, we are expanding access to personalized breast cancer risk assessment and helping women take a more proactive role in their breast health.”

Through Gabbi’s online assessment and care navigation model, women can learn their personalized breast cancer risk in minutes and receive clear recommendations for next steps. Depending on their risk level, those next steps may include genetic counseling and testing, high-risk surveillance, additional screening or ongoing follow-up, helping women move from uncertainty to action with guidance along the way.

Gabbi was founded from a deeply personal experience. After losing her mom to breast cancer, Kaitlin Christine, CEO and Founder of Gabbi, set out to help more women understand their risk earlier and access the care they need sooner. Although her mom had regular mammograms, her cancer went undetected and ultimately required multiple types of imaging to find. Not long after her mom passed away, Kaitlin found a lump herself at just 24 years old. This experience strengthened her commitment to changing how women understand and act on their breast cancer risk.

“Too many women don’t know their personal risk — and as a result, they may not receive the screening or support they need early enough,” Kaitlin said. “Our goal is to help change that by making breast cancer risk assessment easier to access, easier to understand and easier to act on.”

Minnesota Oncology and Gabbi are collaborating with primary care and women’s health practices to bring this important service to more women in ages 24+ where they already receive care. Herself Health is the first women’s health practice in the Twin Cities to offer the assessment to their patients to help identify women who may be at increased risk for breast cancer and may benefit from additional support beyond traditional screening alone.

"Herself Health has long been a leader in routine mammography screening for patients at average risk for risk for breast cancer,” said Dr. Deb Dittberner, Chief Medical Officer for Herself Health. “This partnership gives us an exciting opportunity to expand that early detection of breast cancer. We're now able to identify high-risk patients with personalized screening and additional specialty care and testing. We are deeply grateful for our collaboration with Gabbi and Minnesota Oncology and the shared commitment to improving outcomes for all women and their families."

Hudson Physicians and Richfield Medical Group will also soon offer this resource to their patients.
