National Cancer Survivor Month, Jim’s Story

In honor of National Cancer Survivor Month, we're proud to share Jim's inspiring journey of survival.

Jim’s cancer journey began in late 2023 when he noticed symptoms he could not ignore. Despite being busy with work and preparing for bow hunting season, he followed his instinct and saw his doctor, who told him what he never expected to hear: Jim had cancer.

“I was waiting to hear how we would fix these minor issues. Instead, the doctor said 'cancer' and that’s all I heard. Being told I had cancer - it really turned my head. It brought me to my knees.”

Jim was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer. Through surgery complications and four rounds of chemotherapy, Jim found support in his family, other cancer patients, or "warriors," as he referred to them, and his faith community. Jim also drew strength from Angel Foundation™, which provided a grant to ease his financial burdens.

“With support from Angel Foundation, every day was less stressful and financially easier. I thank you for helping us in our time of need.”

Today, Jim is cancer free. As we honor survivors during National Cancer Survivors Month, Jim’s story is a touching reminder of hope, courage, and the power of community.
